Lisbon in November: Where Founders and Nomads Should Actually Show Up

Web Summit, side events, and what else is on

November turns Lisbon into something it isn't the other eleven months of the year. Parque das Nações fills with 70,000+ people who flew in for one week, FIL runs back-to-back events for most of the month, and half the city's Airbnb hosts start blocking out their calendars in September. If you're a founder, remote worker, or just someone who rents a laptop from us, here's what's actually worth planning around.

Web Summit (9–12 November)

The big one. 2025 drew 71,386 attendees from 157 countries, 2,725 startups from 108 countries, and 1,857 investors — up 74% year over year. It's held at MEO Arena and FIL in Parque das Nações.

📊 Fact: around 200 startups that attended the 2024 edition went on to raise over $700M combined in the months after.

Best for: founders fundraising, early teams wanting visibility, anyone who wants to be in the room when a sector-wide deal gets announced.

Side Events

Web Summit's own community calendar is the best place to find what's happening around the main stage — meetups, dinners, investor mixers, all added by attendees and partners.

If You're Not in Tech (or You Are, and Want a Break)

Pharma Forum EMEA (2–4 November)

Life-sciences meetings and events industry, at the Dom Pedro Lisboa Hotel. Early in the month, before the Web Summit crowd lands.

Lisboa Games Week (19–22 November)

FIL reopens its halls to gaming, barely two weeks after Web Summit packs up. Over 15,000 m² of exhibitors, tournaments, and playable demos. If you're renting a PS5 or gaming monitor from us, this is the week to do it.

InnoComp 2026 (9–11 November)

A smaller computational intelligence and data science conference running the same week as Web Summit, for people who'd rather sit in a lecture hall than a startup pitch.

A Quieter Lisbon Moment

Right in the middle of all this, on 11 November, locals are celebrating São Martinho. The date marks his burial in Tours in 397 — he'd been a Roman soldier turned monk, baptized after leaving the army, and buried on a day that happened to fall during a short warm spell the Portuguese still call "Verão de São Martinho."

The tradition is the magusto: chestnuts roasted over an open fire, washed down with água-pé or jeropiga, a light wine made from grape pomace. Some trace the custom back to All Saints' Day, when chestnuts were left out for the spirits of the dead. There's an old saying for the day: "No dia de São Martinho, pão, castanhas e vinho" — bread, chestnuts, and wine. Walk down Rua Augusta that week and you'll likely pass a chestnut vendor; some locals head down to the Tagus riverside to mark the day.
